Wayne Rooney has insisted that Lionel Messi is the only player who is not jealous of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rooney, who appeared on Monday Night Football’s Sky Sports, suggested Pogba go further and agreed with his expert colleague Jamie Carragher that Ronaldo’s return was disappointing.
“You have to say no,” he said when asked if Ronaldo’s transfer worked. “He is a threat to the goal, but the rest of his game, I think they need more. “I think they need young and hungry players.”
Rooney later posted a photo on Instagram on the show, and Ronaldo responded by commenting on “Two Jealousies” of the Derby County manager.
But United legend Rooney, who played with Ronaldo during his first stay in Manchester, has responded to the praise by praising his former colleague.
“I saw him this morning,” he said Thursday when asked about Ronaldo’s response. “I would say that there is probably no footballer on the planet who is not jealous of Cristiano.
“The career he has had, the trophies he has won, the money he has won…! “Every player except Lionel Messi is jealous of Cristiano.”
